The Holiday Party Edit

I literally blinked and it’s suddenly not only mid-December, but officially just about one week away from Christmas. This holiday season might be taking the cake for the fastest I’ve experienced this time of year go by – I’m just trying to do all the things (Christmas Train, holiday plays, seeing Santa with Cal, Secret Santas, you name it!), live it up at all my holiday parties (which are now mercifully done) and try to stay present when I can to soak in the magic of the season, especially in the moments I get to experience it through Cal’s eyes.

I’m trying to also be a bit more streamlined in my approach to party dressing this year, because this has been my heaviest party and event holiday season yet. While I’m trying to actually play it up a bit more when it comes to my party looks (like this cute bow skirt, or the sequin dress I wore to a holiday event a few weeks ago!) I’m sticking to the most exquisite style staples when it comes to accessories to keep things simple but very chic.

You know I love Poppy Barley – I’ve been such a fan of this Canadian brand for years now, and I can honestly tell you I don’t have a single piece of them that has not been on heavy rotation in my wardrobe while also standing the test of time (and repeated wear). Their pieces are crafted so sustainably and ethically, and you can see that in the quality – I have a pair of boots I got maybe 10 or so years ago that look as beautiful today as they did when I first got them.

So unsurprisingly, when I’m looking for effortless staples that will last me years upon years (and last me through this particularly insane holiday season), Poppy Barley was the first place I turned. And it doesn’t hurt that now it’s easier than ever since they have such a beautiful W 4th location right here in Vancouver!

I popped in and tried on the Meghan Pump and it was like a Cinderella moment – perfect fit, and instantly worked with my outfit. The asymmetrical cut gives so much visual interest to a really classic pump style, and as sexy as they are they’re so, so comfy. Classics I’ll wear forever for sure.

I knew I wanted something classic bag-wise to anchor the outfit and connect with the shoes. I had fallen for the Sixteenth Tote instantly online already, and in-person it was even more stunning. Just the perfect size to work as well for a night out, or as my daily commute bag (which it’s quickly become) in and out of work. It’s so thoughtfully designed and transitions beautifully across my busy life, but for a night out it doesn’t feel too slouchy or casual at all thanks to the perfect classic structure it has.

I’m not going to lie my outfit totally killed this night, but most importantly I really felt so comfortable which is so huge when you’re party bouncing. I love that both these pieces will also work just as well for literally just about any other occasion, year-round and day-or-night. If you haven’t become acquainted with Poppy Barley yet, now’s the time, whether it’s for last minute holiday shopping or to keep an eye on any end-of-year sales they may have. And since so many of you are based in Vancouver, really urge you to experience the beautiful W 4th location in-person! I’m just so obsessed with their knits in addition to the footwear/accessories they’re so known for, and experiencing it all in-person really highlights the quality all the more.

I’m partnering up with Poppy Barley this week for a giveaway, so make sure you stop by my Insta before the giveaway closes to enter to win!
