Hit Refresh
Happy Monday! I just got back from the loveliest weekend visit to Victoria, where Matt and I started dating all these years ago while at UVic. It was really the exact break I needed – I didn’t have the start to the year that I anticipated, what with getting taken out with this brutal flu virus (wash your hands and take care of yourself, guys!), but now that I’ve unintentionally spent the first two weeks of 2017 on the mend and effectively off, it almost feels like I get to kick off my year now!
So while I wasn’t really able to tackle some of my goals earlier in the year (especially any of the health-related ones!), I feel like I’m getting the chance to really go for it now that I’m basically just about better and revitalized after a fun trip away (so much more on the Vic trip coming soon!).
It occurred to me that this is actually kind of a convenient coincidence though – I’m starting off the year right around the point where a lot of people’s resolution commitment is starting to flag. Think about it: we’re two weeks into the year, the weather’s kind of gloomy, etc. It’s not exactly the most inspiring time of the year based off of weather alone, and the holiday buzz has finally worn down!
So in other words, it’s the perfect time of the year to revisit our resolutions, intentions or goals that we set out to do at the beginning of the year and give them a quick little tune-up. I don’t know that I really believe in “Blue Monday” but it doesn’t hurt to invest more time and energy to being happier, to feeling even better about our achievements and taking care of ourselves, right?
So instead of kind of letting your goals/resolutions slowly start falling apart or falling to the back of your priority list, I challenge you to join me today (since I’m really only just tackling the start of the year now!) and take stock of what you wrote down at the beginning of the year, what’s been working for you, what’s been harder to achieve, etc. Is there a resolution that should’ve never been on there in the first place, potentially? Is there a resolution that was way too audacious and that could be modified to be more achievable? Is there something you’ve actually been doing really well and that you could make a bit more challenging or expand on?
I shared some of my resolutions here so I’ll be doing my own little review of everything today to finally kick off this year! So grateful I’m really and truly back to 100% (well, a touch of a cough still but whatever). Happy Monday lovelies!
