Giveaway: Tilley Hats Toques

 You guys, first off and before I dive into today’s giveaway, let me just say I’m so sorry for all my American friends who were hoping this election would turn out differently. I don’t want to get too political here as I’m Canadian and this isn’t technically my election or country to worry over, but the fact of the matter is that this does affect us all, and more than anything, as a woman the outcome really broke my heart. So long story short is that in a way, we’re in this together. I’m the daughter of two feminists, am a feminist and hope to raise a feminist daughter one day, and knowing that our closest ally has just elected a misogynistic twit as their leader is not the kind of social climate I would elect to exist in. The sad fact is that gender seems to have played a huge part in Trump getting elected and that makes me feel pretty sick to my stomach…not sure how else a hate-wielding Cheeto could win over someone who’s continuously exhibited incredible intelligence, compassion, strength and perseverance in a career devoted to political change, most often for those who need it the most. But life has to move on and as Hillary said in her incredible concession speech, “please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.” I love the States and love all my friends there and know they won’t stop working towards a better future. Please know that if you’re struggling to come to terms with all of this and feeling heartbroken today, your northern neighbours (and others around the world!) are thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way! We believe in you!

 Now the wonderful thing about fashion (or anything creative or fun) is that it can be a wonderful escape when life gets tough so an outfit post felt like a very timely thing to share today, especially since this has a giveaway component open to all my North American followers/readers! A little cheer-up is definitely in order today.

 My Tilley toque (or beanie, as I believe everyone outside of Canada calls it!) has basically been glued to my head since I got it last week. It’s no secret I love cozy style and there’s something about a toque that adds effortless cool girl chic to any look while also seriously upping the warmth and comfort factor.

 My fall/winter style uniform is undeniably the skinny jeans, ankle boots/Converse sneakers, basic tee and wool coat combo – with the toque and a simple sleek leather cross-body bag, this outfit is basically my #offduty dream look as I can literally rock it any day of the week I’m running around doing errands or, of course, a chic weekending look.
