My Instagram Editing Tips

I’m always a bit taken aback (and super, super flattered) by the near-daily requests for my editing process on Instagram. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post (all about the new algorithm), Instagram is one of my favourite platforms—there’s really no better way to give an at-a-glance representation of who you are, what you love and what makes you, well…you! When I think about who I am (a serious West Coaster with a penchant for travel, all with a serious fixation on living life well), I’ve tried over the years to really communicate that through my Instagram account and feel like while it’s always a work in progress, I feel like it’s me.

As you can see in the video above, it’s not rocket science. The best thing I ever did for myself though was seriously simplifying the process. Find a filter that feels like you, stick to it. Decide on a colour palette that suits you and your brand. Try to give an even representation of your content (if you’re a blogger), and try to tell a story or capture a moment.

Once I set a couple self-imposed guidelines, I felt like I could explore so much more and was more inspired to shoot.
