I’m all too familiar with that “I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner” realization. As someone who’s pretty classically stubborn and obstinate, I tend to stick to my ways to a fault sometimes – it’s less that I love routine and more that I usually resist change as I find it too time-consuming (which is…dumb). Fortunately, however, I do eventually find my way to where I need to be, and one recent change has already been reaping some pretty massive rewards for me. Click through to read more!

I’m sharing an office space!!! Yes, likely a bit more exciting than you were expecting, but I can’t stress enough how much it’s already made a difference to my work, productivity and just the quality of my life in general since I recently began renting out the space. My usual partner in crime Alicia (who snapped these pics on one of our work dates) has been renting this beautiful space for years with the lovely Bethany (who you must book for your next wedding, family portrait sessions, etc). I’ve crashed their office hundreds of times, taking advantage of the best lighting in the city in my opinion for posts like this one or this one. And now, I get to rock out (with headphones on) in this space too!
I don’t mind working from home during the summer when I’m in and out a lot as it is, but last winter was…bleak. I would wake up, sit down to my laptop and just feel zero motivation to crack down on work or busy myself with new projects. Getting outside had also zero appeal as the city generally is as grey and damp as it gets in the winter months, so it was all in all not a fun or productive period for me. It really wasn’t until I actually got into quite a bad space that I realized I needed to just force myself out for walks, set stricter work days for myself, etc.
Knowing how last year was for me, I decided I consciously needed to change things up. As the days have already shortened considerably and gotten darker, I’ve found that getting out, spending time with other people in the office (you can get a serious case of cabin fever working alone at home!) and having set hours to get my work done has already made a world of difference for me. I’m a big believer in the need for everyone (even us bloggers) to disconnect at some point of the day and with my work now physically going down elsewhere, it’s been so much easier to just really connect with my friends, fam and boyfriend when I’m home.
Have any of you work-from-home types ever made the leap to renting an office space, or do you have any other wintertime work strategies to not get cabin fever? Tell me in the comments below!

I've been on the fence about getting one of these long sweaters, but after seeing it on you I'm re thinking.
Also, that's awesome! I try so hard to get work done in my room, but there are so many distractions. For me, simple things like going to the library or a study space make a huge difference. Congrats!
