Happy Monday! I just got back in late last night from an incredible weekend away in Whistler celebrating my girl Alicia‘s big day as she said I do to her (new!) hubby Adam. Other than the fact that we were there for such a special reason, Whistler is one of my favourite places to escape to as it is and we truly had the most amazing time. The laid-back quality of the town encourages an essentials-with-impact mentality, helping me pare down my packing list to style basics from Urban Outfitters that pack a sartorial punch without losing any comfort (perfect pieces for this time of year anyway as we’re thinking about transitioning into fall, back to school, etc!). As you guys know I’m a bit of a midi skirt addict and it doesn’t get much better than this Kimchi Blue number – while initially intimidating if you’re not used to the length, they’re actually one of the most versatile and easiest pieces to wear. Just remember to highlight your waist (unless you’re up for some serious proportion play, in which case a dropped hemline on a sweater can look killer with a midi skirt!) and if you’re not blessed with height, maybe opt for a pair of heels (or these Ecote ankle boots that I wore all weekend).
I love the drapey quality of this BDG top and it is literally the softest thing ever, but with the skirt I love knotting it up and rolling up the sleeves for a more flattering silhouette. You better believe I’ll wear this in all its drapey, loose glory soon though – a pair of skinnies and flats or riding boots would look amazing with this number!

I love midi skirts – so practical when you're chasing after small people, bending over to pick things up all the time, etc. I'm searching for some heeled ankle boots, so I will definitely check out those.
