When it comes to anything beauty-related, I love erring on the more natural side. It’s a lovely tendency to have in many respects because everything is generally low-key and speedy for me, but I do have those moments when I wish I could be a bit more adventuresome while still feeling true to myself. I recently teamed up with Shoppers Drug Mart to do just that, creating manicures anyone can do (honestly, if I can, then anyone can!) that up the style factor while still maintaining that discrete, pared-down aesthetic that feels true to me. First of all, if you’re like me and have felt hesitant in the past about exploring nail art because you don’t want your mani to clash with your wardrobe and you’re too low key to want to match your nails, then stick with neutrals and pick classic shapes (part of the reason I always gravitate to graphic nail art. If you’re going to bring in a colour, look at the pieces you generally wear the most (for me these days, that’s a lot of blue in my various denim or chambray pieces, as well as this teal tone that keeps popping up in my wardrobe) so Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri in Set Sail was the perfect pop of colour my clean and bright Essie base in the appropriately named Blanc shade needed.

Once you’ve done a couple shades of your base, you simply grab Nailene’s mani/pedi tip guides and use them to create an inverted triangle at the tip of one finger (or do them all!) and paint your accent colour on in 2 thin coats, allowing them to dry fully and then carefully removing the strips. Finish off with a top coat and you’re set!
