The Layering Game
SHOP THE LOOK
Oh hi guys! Welcome to 2015!!! After hosting our first-ever New Year’s Eve party (which was a great success if the next day’s hangover was anything to gauge it by), doing my annual New Year’s Day traditions (running the Resolution Run 5K and doing the Penguin Plunge) and then spending some nice quiet time at home getting sorted, organizing our space post-party and prepping for some of the fun things I have planned for 2015, I’m all kinds of inspired for the new year. One of my get-inspired goals for the new year has been to start treating my own city like a tourist again, something which was easy to do on this grey yet beautiful day doing some of our favourite things in Kitsilano! Click through to read the full post!
Being someone who’s kind of constantly seeking something new or fun fun of some kind and finds themselves easily bored often, I tend to forget that I can keep myself easily entertained by just looking in my own backyard, apartment or even bookshelf for inspiration. I stress about booking a new trip, taking on a new adventure or going somewhere else when really, if you pay attention to it and shift your perspective, your own home can be so incredible – especially when your home is Vancouver, in my humble opinion!
As a beach bum, I find the city easy to love in the summer when beach days and water activities abound, but I need to make a bit more of an effort in the winter. Once I suit up (layered outwear is key!) and get outside though, the city never fails to impress. Whether I venture over to Quarry Rock for a hike, run the Sea Wall, go to Granville Island (my happy place), get brunch at our favourite place in Kits and then walk home or poke around shops in Gastown, once I get over the whole “this city’s always rainy, this city’s always grey, this city’s always dead” mentality, I find it’s actually one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Other than the convenience factor (I mean, I live here already), I think it taps into that whole love-what-you’ve-already-got gratitude thang that most of us need to do more of (something else I’m trying to focus on more in 2015).
Speaking of goals, I’m so excited to share a few fun features over the next couple of weeks that are all about some of my passions and new targets for this year! Stay tuned! Curious too – what are your goals for this year and why did you pick them? Happy New Year loves – belated I know but better late than never!

I love that coat! I'd never think of layering a leather jacket underneath that, but it looks incredible. Great idea!

I adore the rain, but even so, one can get tired of a lot of anything, so adventuring is a great way to renew the love! Love walking the seawall on a cloudy day – and rainy days are perfect for taking the ferry, shopping, or trying a new restaurant
Yes, you are so right – we are exceptionally lucky to be able to do so in beautiful Vancouver!!
