Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
SHOP THE POST
I think that picture above says it all. I. Love. The. Holidays. Yesterday’s post was all about a favourite seasonal tradition right here in the city, but probably one of my most-cherished traditions involves an hour and a half drive (and a whole lot of layers!) out to our go-to Christmas tree farm. Click through to see the full post!
While the older sis and younger brother won’t be back until later this month, my little sister, parents and Matt all headed out to our favourite tree farm again this year for one of our absolute favourite traditions, and the one that really always makes me feel like the holiday season has truly kicked off. I’m actually decently good as a lumberjack and am proud to say that I not only chopped down Matt and I’s little tree for our apartment, but I took down the behemoth that wouldn’t even fit through the bailer for my family’s main room. It’s all about the wedge technique first (making a little wedge incision) and then sawing away. You heard it here first!
Now that the trees are ticked off, we’re already full-steam ahead on the rest of our tradition list (the Nutcracker, the Christmas Train, etc, etc). My family’s a very close-knit bunch but naturally, we’re all getting older and all of our lives continue to change from year to year. My older sister’s moved to London, my brother’s away for school now and of course, we will be missing our puppy boy Bailey again this year. But somehow, despite all the change that’s happened and wherever we each happen to be in our own lives, this time of year is the one period when we can almost always guarantee that we’ll all be together. It’s why we’re so hardcore with our traditions – given that there are 6 of us altogether, we need that small set of rituals to bind us together since it’s only natural that as a big group, we’ll have so many individual things going on.
So apologies in advance for going a bit overdrive with the holiday posts – you can blame it on my weird family! And speaking of which, I have some exciting holiday collaborations and features coming up soon – if you have anything specifically you want to see, just tell me in the comments below!
