Revamped New Year’s Eve Style
Dress c/o Free People, Obakki skirt, heels c/o Call it Spring,
I can’t believe 2015 is right around the corner in a mere two days!!! Seriously shocking. I’m still just in the beginnings of planning our first-ever New Year’s Eve party at our place, so needless to say, I haven’t really had much of a chance to plan an outfit – which is exactly why today’s post in collaboration with my girl Alicia is so perfect! Both of us have closets that are quite literally aching and creaking from their current overflowing contents, so trying to force in another party dress seems unnecessary (not to mention it’s easier on the savings account too!). We decided it would be a great idea to both take our dresses from last New Year’s Eve festivities (you can see last year’s look here) and reinterpret them into completely new outfits and I’ve gotta say, we’re both pretty pleased with the results! Click through to see the full post and to get a sneak peek at Alicia‘s look!
This Free People dress is so stunning on its own so naturally, for its first go-around last year I just wore it sans additional pieces. For this year though, I wanted to give it a somewhat more casual vibe with separates (particularly since we’re hosting a party chez nous). Nothing works as well for a dress with a flouncy hemline or volume to it as an A-line skirt, particularly a pleated one that naturally hides everything underneath. I love playing into the neutral metallic tones with the cream of this Obakki skirt (plus silver heels and some dainty jewellery)!
Now that my outfit has been sorted out, I’ve got some serious planning to get to! So excited for my besties to come over tonight to help me set up a photo wall – of course, the blogger sets up a hashtag and step-and-repeat for a house party! The boyfriend’s in charge of everything else that any guys would actually care about (he already made me wander the aisles of Home Depot recently to assemble a beer bong, he’s very proud). If any of you have any NYE party tips, help a sista out and tell me in the comments!
Now back to the all-important NYE style topic – if you have a dress with a standout bottom, be sure to stop by my girl Alicia’s blog today to see how she styled her feathered dress! A little preview of the stunning ensemble below – obsessed!
Happy Monday everyone!
