A Different Kind of Christmas Sweater
SHOP THIS LOOK
Believe me, I’m all for tacky and kitschy around this time of the year, but as much as I love going a bit overboard decoration-wise (yesterday’s post is a prime example!) I’ve never really warmed to the full-on Christmas sweater look. While my girl Alicia somehow managed to make a traditional Christmas sweater look stylish, I’ve always just worn it to the requisite ugly Christmas sweater party only to tear it off as soon as I leave. So instead, I bring you today a different kind of Christmas sweater – the cozy, wrap-yourself-in-it-a-million-different-ways kind. This gem from Free People has been worn nearly obsessively since receiving it and while I particularly love it in a layered look like this one (with a focus on proportion play), I can’t wait to toss it on again Christmas morning, knotting the front for extra warmth. Click through to see the full look, to get all my styling tips and to see who won my One Fated Knight giveaway (insert exhausted emoji here).
Personally, I think a long cardigan like this Free People sweater-meets-jacket is best worn with the simplest looks. It’s just such a statement on its own that if you overwhelm it, it loses its impact. Subtle plays on proportion (like pairing it with a body-con knit dress and cashmere sweater below, with a cropped biker jacket on top) really bring its unique length front-and-centre, but it would be equally amazing with the complete reverse proportion play: a long coat that grazes the floor and an oversized scarf (just as long as you keep the bottoms either very sleek [think skinnies] or an above-the-knee length skirt).
On a less style-related but much more stress-filled note, when did time decide to start moving at double speed?! I can’t believe it’s the 23rd and yes, I’m ashamed to say that I’m still not done Christmas shopping. Running out the door right now actually to hopefully check off the final items I need, then off to a fun shoot with my loves Alicia and Ainsley and then it’s off to the Christmas Train with the whole family (my sister and boyfriend are back in town from London!). It will be full steam ahead until Christmas but at the very least, it comforts me a bit knowing I have lots of company since it seems as if everyone’s in the same boat this year.
One person, however, is going to have the best possible alleviation to their Christmas craziness – a big congrats to Haley Moore, who won my One Fated Knight giveaway! Will be in touch ASAP! I was so happy to see such a positive turnout and response to this giveaway since my One Fated Knight bag (pictured here) is one that I wear so obsessively and I was so excited for someone else to enjoy it, especially since it’s just in time for Christmas!
If you didn’t win this one, don’t worry – now that I’m back in Vancouver, I’ve had a chance to really line up some incredible giveaways with more of my favourite brands and companies and I’m so excited to bring you some more opportunities to win some incredible experiences or pieces. Stay tuned!
I’m planning on checking in tomorrow with some holiday wishes but if I get caught up with other things, my absolute warmest holiday wishes to you and your loved ones in advance! I hope you take lots of time over the next few days to really be with the ones you love and to enjoy what this season is really all about. 🙂

My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find the majority of your post’s to be
just what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs?
I wouldn’t mind producing a post or elaborating on a
lot of the subjects you write in relation to here.
Again, awesome blog!
Hébert and Weaver (2014) reference that they had carried out a little qualitative research study
(not yet released at the time of composing) and found out that dominants ‘revealed great pleasure
in having the ability to control the scenario and reported this as one of the main benefits of BDSM.’ They
keep in mind that dominants fell within the ‘regular variety’ of desire for control, thus they suggested that BDSM
scenes provide an outlet for an individual’s common desire for control, rather than an expression of an abnormal have to keep control.
You have made some decent points there. I looked on the web for additional information about the issue and found most people will go along
with your views on this site.
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the
video to mmake your point. You obviously know what youre talking about,
whyy waste your intelligence on just posting videos to youyr blog when you could be giving us
something enlightening to read?
I know this if off topic but I’m looking injto starting my
own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get set up?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a prettry penny?
I’m nnot very web smart sso I’m not 100% certain.
Any suggestions or advice would be grwatly appreciated.
Manyy thanks
