Scroll through your Instagram feed on any given week and chances are you’ll see someone you follow on a juice cleanse – with more juice bars around than ever before, it’s so easy to try out a cleanse like I did with The Juicery Co. earlier this week. Thanks to their amazing tips and my own personal experience now that I’ve wrapped a cleanse up, I’ve got three things you should know before you try your next juice cleanse – more after the jump

First of all, wondering why you should cleanse? Check out the benefits The Juicery Co. lists here! And now without further ado, here’s what you need to know for your next cleanse:
1. Drink a lot of water – I’m talking near-obscene amounts. I felt as if I was drinking tons (I was at 2 litres by early afternoon) but really, I was still not fully hydrated throughout the day. What’s more, it also keeps you full throughout the whole day – helps keep any hangriness at bay and helps your body do the detoxification work that a cleanse is all about!
2. Set a timer for when you need to take your juices – I was supposed to have a juice every two hours but like most everyone else, I would get caught up with work, get distracted, etc, etc and not take them consistently. My blood sugar levels started riding on a roller coaster and while feeling exhausted is entirely normal during a cleanse, it definitely would’ve helped to have been more consistent with my juices. One more note: get a good rest the night before! Will make everything that much easier.
3. While this one might seem obvious, it is normal to get an energy boost at certain points in the day – even if you do, do not exercise. I went for a run and did strength training when I was feeling really energized mid-afternoon – big mistake. I ended up feeling completely depleted and also dehydrated my body since I already couldn’t keep up with my water intake. Really just set your cleanse on a day where you can rest as much as possible.
If you’re in the Vancouver area, I would definitely recommend The Juicery Co.’s 1-day cleanse to start with! This isn’t a sponsored post FYI, I just had loved the juices and the experience was such a positive one (despite my mistakes that you can now avoid!!).
Speaking of overall health, I’m going to the cabin now for a relaxing and restful long weekend – hope you all have an amazing weekend!
