Minimalist Summer Chic

The one thing I love most about summer style is the sheer simplicity of it all. Playing around with layers and textures is one of my favourite things to do during the winter, but come summer, there’s really something to be said for just throwing on your favourite denim cut-offs (I live in these ones by the Gap), strappy heels (this pair from J.Crew have hardly left my feet [ew] since I go them), a simple top and then confidently walking out the door. As per last week’s post, I’ve been slowly but surely working on just relaxing this summer, and with this shifted focus, these classic ensembles have been all that I’ve worn – click through to read more!
Can’t remember if I already mentioned this, but part of the reason I’m trying to focus on just enjoying the summer here in Vancouver (it’s honestly when the city’s at its best) is because I will be taking off for Europe hopefully by the end of this summer! You might remember my older sister aka my BFF took off to Europe last fall – well, she’s basically completely abandoned me for good since then, finding love in London and settling down there. While I guess I’m really happy for her (joking, super happy for her and really excited to finally meet her beau this summer), following her adventures has not only made me miss her more but also made me all the more envious of her. We’ve always been pretty polar opposite – she’s travelled all around the world having all these incredible experiences, while I’ve always been pretty career-focused and nose-to-the-grindstone about life. I’ve always admired her ability to just go with the flow, travel fearlessly and love life.
So I decided if I’m going to jump across the pond and explore the continent, what better time than when my well-travelled sister and her boyfriend are settled there and I can fully take advantage of their hospitality? I’m pretty excited about it and after doing some number crunching yesterday, once we pick a good date I’m pretty much set to book. Kind of nerve-wracking to take off to Europe alone but at least I’ll have my sister to meet on my arrival! She’s also coming home for a couple weeks in only a few days so I get to see her and plan with her well ahead of time (eek, so excited to see her!).
But before Europe comes Maui, and I am getting so excited for this trip. I may have gone a little overboard with planning things style-wise for the vacation since I usually just end up in one of three bathing suits with a beer in-hand on the beach the whole trip, but regardless, here’s a little preview of what I’ll be wearing in Maui (and feel free to shop away!):
I love the purse. It has such a vintage look:)

Wow!! How exciting!! You'll love London, it's such a fabulous city and people are really great!
I'm from Europe and I'll be actually going to US to explore NYC and LA next year and that makes me very excited as I've been also very much career orientated and not taking too many risks in past 6-7 years, so I can't wait to do this kind of change 🙂
