I had the best weekend. The forecast called for clouds and rain, but come Saturday, there was nothing but sunshine and blue skies for the whole long weekend. From paddle boarding to kayaking to canoeing to laying in the hammock and catching up on Danielle LaPorte’s The Desire Map, it was just complete relaxation and a great opportunity to get out on the water more often (quick little visual recap at the bottom of this post from my Insta account!).
But before heading off for this incredible weekend, I wore this classic femme look to a fun little get-together with Glam Canada and other local Glam bloggers. I can’t even wrap my head around why the antiquated rule of never wearing navy and black together would’ve ever even existed because to me, they’re such a natural pairing. With a simple look like this one (or with similarly timeless outfits like trousers and a blouse, pencil skirts and a silk top, etc), having the tones layered on top of another gives dimension without taking away the neutral appeal of the darker palette. Like with Canadian tuxedos, try to just ensure that the navy is a bright and saturated enough tone that it doesn’t look as if you just have two mismatched blackish hues thrown together – the contrast is key!
