I was inspired by my lovely friend Jen’s recent breezy spring look for today’s post – I can’t count how many times in a given month I stroll right by the same place she did to pick up a fresh bouquet (you can take a quick look at my Instagram feed to get a sense of my fresh flower obsession), and if there was ever an ultimate spring accessory, it’s a beautiful bouquet.
They were the perfect addition to this classic ’70s inspired look, and I’m loving how the boot cut of my brand-new James Jeans denim give a nod to the decade in a subtle way. To add a bit of spring-apropos femininity, I swapped out my usual men’s oxford button-down for a silk rose-toned blouse from Joe Fresh – definitely a bit more girly than what I usually gravitate to, but as you can tell from recent posts (example 1, 2, 3 and 4), something about the recent onset of spring has me falling for more new femme pieces and looks.
Speaking of working new pieces into your wardrobe, make sure you mark down in your calendar Alicia’s giveaway with Robson Street this Friday – as I mentioned in Monday’s post, her, Melissa, Jen and I will each be hosting a giveaway over the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait to share mine on Monday!

Yes, a very classic and classy look! The blouse and sweater combo is one my big sister wore in the late 60s and I wore in the 70s. And continued to wear off and on as it has stayed a classic style. That's what makes it such a classic, it has stayed. The other classic here, the boot cut jeans have stayed in my closet since they reappeared on the scene for people other than cowgirls about 10 years ago. These past two years, they have faded out again, and I don't mean their color! But those of us who carry a bit more in the hip and thigh know the value of the fullness of the boot cut jean in balancing out our figures! I keep my fingers crossed that they will come back in style, but even if they don't, I will keep wearing them to keep my balance! Thanks for listing those great sources for reasonably priced boot cut jeans! Now I can stock up!
