Et Même
Club Monaco skirt & clutch, H&M heels,
So some of you might already know this about me, but English isn’t technically my first language, chronologically-wise at least. I’m from Québec originally and didn’t speak English until my family moved to British Columbia, at which point I was a mute for a year (thanks to my older sister for translating for me during that time, what a good sister!). I then lived in France for a bit as a teen and was really fortunate to still be fluent in my first language for most of my life.
But then after wrapping up high school, going to university and working in what’s basically a completely anglophone province for years, I lost quite a bit of my fluency. It’s always made me feel like I’m missing a little bit of myself so this year, I finally made a promise to get it back entirely.
Weeellll true to my word I am starting my first-ever French language course later this month (and got put in the advanced class, yessssssssss)!!! It’s always felt just a bit “off” to still think and dream in French here and there but not have it be a regular part of my life, so I’m really so excited to tackle this goal!
Did you guys have any New Year goals that you’ve managed to get to, or any that you’re still getting ready to tackle?
Lovely skirt, I love the whole look together!

Gawd, you're so beautiful Alexandra! Loving that leopard clutch!
I'm also a French speaker working in a mostly anglophone environment and it's quite a challenge to keep up with my French! Luckily, my job requires me to use it sometimes, and I still speak French with my family, but if I don't use it for a bit, I'm instantly rusty! French is such a beautiful language and good on you for taking some classes!

Good for you! My boyfriend and I would really like to learn Spanish.
Love the skirt you've got on in this post!

I definitely didn't know that about you! Very cool. I wish I had learned another language as a child because it's definitely harder to learn as an adult. Good for you on signing up for a class! I agree that's a great skill to keep around, especially considering how meaningful it is to your childhood.
Love the outfit too, of course! That skirt is gorgeous!
It's awesome you took a course to brush up on your skills, being able to speak a second language is amazing and would be a shame to loose those skills. I wish I was fluent or semi-fluent in another language, one day!
Love this sweater, looks so comfy and your leopard print clutch is perfect for fall

Absolutely gorgeous, the clutch and skirt compliment each other perfectly! Enjoy your reconnecting with your Fresh language roots, I'm still failing miserably at learning after almost three years in Montreal!

Yay congrats on working on your goal. My husband and I want our son to learn French, we recently got him Rosetta stone so he would learn some basic words.
That's so great that you're getting back to French. I hope you can continue to find ways to incorporate it into your life! 🙂 And I hope you keep posting about your journey, this is definitely inspiring me to start using the French that I learned through french immersion years ago.
I'm glad to hear that you speak French! Good on you for trying to keep your skills in that language :)I was fluent in Italian but lost everything when I start to learn English. My skills seem far away now and I'm not sure I could get it back easily 🙁
p.s : Your outfit is gorgeous!
Love this outfit! its one of my favs so far of you fall intro! I wish i could speak french, you'd like id be able to with a dad that was born in Quebec but sadly he lost it all when he moved here
I love this outfit and how it's basically perfect for a September "transition" to fall. I know this same sweater and skirt would look cute with booties and tights when it's colder outside.
That's so amazing that you're going to brush up on your French. I have only ever been fluent in English and even when I tried to learn French in school, it never stuck. I'm jealous of anyone who is good with languages. Such an awesome skill to have!
