The best days are always the ones that unravel on their own without any structure. Matt and I’s Saturday (when these pics were snapped) was exactly one of those days: we strolled to Granville Island for breakfast, stopped by Beaucoup Bakery for pain au chocolat (best in the city), window shopped (and actually shopped), biked to Science World where we spent a few lovely hours trying to fight away kids to play brain games (we’re cool) and then got drinks and burgers. It was the perfect weekend day.
Really, other than feeling a bit under the weather yesterday, the whole weekend was amazing. Friday I took some much-needed time alone to do some post-run yoga and meditation, watch old reruns and do a face mask. Because I never really take alone time, it wasn’t until I accidentally had some that I realized how desperately I really needed it. Our lives are generally ridiculously connected and hyper-social these days, and it’s hard to remember to make a point of breaking away from the whole socializing/social media/networking cycle.
I’m definitely guilty of getting sucked in this cycle: in a typical week, I’m with colleagues while at work during the day, I live with my boyfriend so I see him at home, I go to an event or two and see industry types, I make time for my friends, I have a big and very close family so we usually see each other lots and I often have a coffee/drink meeting or two sprinkled in there as well. I’m naturally social and feel so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life, but I think being still and taking that alone time is so needed to feel balanced and whole. I think it just helps foster a relationship with yourself, and it’s so important to be able to enjoy your own company.
So with all that said, my goal this week is very simple: though all of my evenings are filled with events, I want to take at least half an hour each day to just sit and read a magazine, paint my nails, stretch…whatever. Just doing the boring little things that make me happy.
What do you do to unwind solo?

Your saturday sounds like the best day ever!! I love this look for a day of biking too, that sweater is fantastic! The whole look is perfect.
I used to be bad for not taking enough me time, but I make sure at least 1-2 evenings a week I have time post workout or work to unwind and do whatever I want

I ended up with nights to myself this weekend to! I love my boyfriend but I have to admit curling up with my puppy watching endless chick flix and relaxing was exactly what i needed for a couple days to recharge.

I live in a super small town where I don't know too many people so let's just say I have a lot of "me" time haha. It is important to let go sometimes and focus on the little things! Hope your week goes well! And loving the casual outfit! Perfect for a bike ride! x
