Summer’s Last Sound

September 11, 2012

This week the telltale nip of fall was finally ushered in – for the first time in months, only a tiny window crack was needed at night, and I finally broke out the fuzzy woolen socks I always need during the cooler months (I have icicle extremities like…all the time). I haven’t worn a sweater let alone a coat since April, but I finally had a good enough reason to break out one of my favourite pieces ever: this Club Monaco colour-block coat is definitely a fall-time staple for me, and its chic trapeze silhouette and contrasting neutrals never fail to elevate any casual look. Since I’m definitely not ready to let go of the summer quite yet, some punchy shorts and strappy heels kept the sunshine vibe going.
Loving my new necklace from The Altered Chain too – its dainty brass pendant made it perfect for layering with a couple other favourites of mine from Keltie Leanne and Charles & Grace.

Just an FYI, never watch Snow White and the Huntsman…maybe I’m just not that into KStew but holy fudge there’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back. You were warned!

Loved that last paragraph about Snow White and the Huntsmen – too funny. You are the only person I know who could pull off shorts and coat, pally, and you do it with flair. Always love this Club Monaco gem, ever since you wore it to our first blogger meet-up! Time flies 🙂 Miss you, girl.

Wow, that coat is amazing! What a fantastic piece — I think I would probably live in that all though fall…

Ohh this is the most amazing trench, I love pieces like this for fall. And how cute with the polka dot shorts!! I don't want to let go of summer just yet, but our weather has other plans, so chilly today!

Cute shorts and I love the necklace. Sad summer is almost over, but at least you can still wear shorts! I had to break out the tights.-Heidi Good to know about the movie, thanks.

Cute short! Love how you styled them for fall!

Love the look! but I have a question… do you find it a "don't do" to wear a jacket longer than your shorts? This came up last summer between friends and it was mixed. I don't think it looks bad at all in your photo above but I've worn something before where it looked really odd.
    What's your opinion?

Oh, so good to know that Snow White and the Huntsman isn't a good movie! I've never been a ban of Kristen Stewart (I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like Twilight). This outfit is great transition look too. I love the punch of colour your cute polka dot shorts add to your look.

Am loving those necklaces! And thank you for the warning about Snow White; I have a minor loathing for KStew, so I probably wouldn't have seen it anyway, but now I won't even be tempted. 🙂

I can totally relate on the ice cycle extremities 🙂 and that coat is fab! Love that you paired it over bright shorts.

I am madly in love with this coat. It is gorgeous! Even though it's getting chilly I'm not ready to give up my summer pieces just yet, so it's nice seeing you mix some fall pieces with your summer ones.

I love that necklace!! So gorgeous and that jacket is exactly what I need for fall.
And I know what you mean about the colder weather! I'm wearing my Uggs to keep warm an I'm not happy about it at all…
