With a Little Luck

December 30, 2011

Club Monaco skirt, Wilfred blouse, H&M men’s sweater & booties,
Rebecca Minkoff bag, vintage belt, ring c/o Social Experiment, TNA scarf

I am having a love affair with this new copper Club Monaco skirt that I picked up yesterday (I was exchanging it for a tank that my sister had gifted me, so thanks older sista!). I am so in love with it in fact that I’m dropping my already-planned New Year’s Eve outfit and wearing this skirt instead. It’s been getting steadily colder here too with winter almost in full force, so it’s definitely time to break out the knitwear and snap up some new finds. Also, my little sister shot these pics for me. I’m so impressed considering she never picked up an SLR before. Ooooh the Grant sisters…they’re just filled with great gifts and hidden talents.

As some of you might have heard me say before, I have never once had a good New Year’s. Last year was really the pinnacle of them all…let’s just say I was in the ER for four hours with blood running down my face, then I got the New Year’s gift of stitches. Fun times. I’m hoping this year will be good though. I mean, I’m kind of bound to get a break at some point or another, right? And if, by the way you ever see me in person, ask me to list off all my weird/horrifying NYE’s. It’s a great story.
Hope all you lovelies are having a great week so far! Any big NYE plans on the horizon?

Isn't this skirt just the best ever? I've worn mine about a hundred times since I bought it, had one terrible and devastating spill on it, send it to a miracle performing dry cleaner and worn it even more since 🙂 I love that you paired it with your pink Aritzia blouse, I never would have thought to pair them but they're such a natural match, especially with your cosy scarf and sweater combination. Kudos to your little sister for taking these shots, can't believe she'd never used an SLR before – I use one all the time and still couldn't do this well! Hope your NYE is much better this year, my lovely pal. No exciting plans for us – I suspect I'll fall asleep before midnight as usual 😉

Love the skirt paired with the pink blouse. I can commiserate on the horrid New Years stories. I used to bartend and one New Years eve a VEEERY drunk girl decided to take punch me in the face. Why? I still have no clue! Hope this year goes better for you!

I absolutely love your skirt too, isn't it funny when you have something all planned out and it gets thrown out the window like that? The top is such a great colour with this skirt and I looove your chunky cardigan

beauty Alex! the soft colors really do get a justifiable lift when someone as lovely as you wears them. good call about that skirt, it's fantastic! your sister did a awesome job on those snaps, kudos to her.

HAPPY NEW YEAR WISHES! now look you, just be careful okay…..if someone wants to bring a dog to the party then you just tell them it ain't a go alright?! if there's a DJ table close by then you move along to the opposite side of the room and enlist some friends to make a buffered barrier around you with a perimeter of no less that 5 meters!!! wishing you only and forever the very best for 2012. rock it out girl, i know you will!!!!! xoox ♥

This outfit is so lovely and so cozy! I also really love the photos and how dreamy they are. I want to hear your NYE stories! That is such a strange thing to have a collection of stories about. NYE is typically a truly boring holiday. I hope yours is a little better this year.
