Cabin Fever

December 27, 2011

I’m back! After a very lovely two days spent lying on the couch watching Christmas movie after Christmas movie with my siblings and eating enough to feed an army, my family and I packed up and headed over to our cabin on the Sunshine Coast yesterday. I’ve actually only ever been to the cabin during the summer and it’s been really cool being here during the winter for a change. Winter cabin days involve lots of sitting by the fire, drinking red wine, and watching the rain come down. There was a little pocket of dry weather earlier in the day so my brother, sister and I decided to head out for a walk and see what the tide brought in.

My brother got me the scarf I’m wearing in these pics, I love it! He actually has the most dead-on gift picks for me, but I guess having a sharp sense of style can almost be expected considering the fact he was raised with three sisters. I also got the Canon Rebel T3 and have been absolutely loving it. So much fun shooting all the beautiful shells that wash up on our rocky beaches…that is until I started to freeze, which usually happens pretty quickly (I am a low blood-pressure, cool-temperature freak). So now I’m sitting in front of this…

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas my lovelies! Anyone get anything particularly amazing? To Vogue or Bust

Oh that looks so nice! We have cabins here in Finland as well, we call them cottages though, but I guess they're quite similar 🙂 It's looks so cosy, and I love the idea of watching Christmas related movies with your family. Which is your favorite? Mine is definately the classic Home Alone 2, haha. Gotta love it! Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog!

thanks for your christmas wishes! Looks like you had a fantastic getaway with your family on the sunshine coast. Isn't it so beautiful? I love that picture of your wellies on the rocky beach. I took Nala there over Thanksgiving and she LOVED exploring the beach with all its shells, logs and pebbles.

This looks incredible. I've been dying to plan a trip to the mountains to stay in a cabin for a weekend, I guess I'm just waiting for the right time!

I loved this post! You look gorgeous! My mother grew up on the Sunshine Coast, in Sechelt, and some of my greatest memories as a child are vacations there during the springs and summers. It's been years since we've had the time to go back, such a shame.

Sounds like you are having the penultimate Christmas holiday with all the traditional ingredients – company, location and creature comforts! Great to hear you're having a wonderful time.

I am determined to escape New Zealand one year, so sick of a hot Christmas. The idea of snow and fireplaces just sounds so idyllic.

P.S. Can definitely see the resemblance with your sister(s?) in the pictures, beautiful genes run in the family!
