The Bright Side

December 14, 2011

Twenty8Twelve leather jacket, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Mink Pink cape,
Zara silk blouse, Urban Outfitters pants, H&M booties & necklace

Oh, how I love Vancouver weather. Two days ago, I enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day, so nice out in fact that I strolled around in a silk blouse and leather jacket and felt perfectly warm. Fast forward to today and I’m bundled up in two cashmere sweaters, throwing on earmuffs and a bulky winter parka just to walk my dog around the block. Guess I can’t live in cold-weather denial forever!

I used to just ride the tide of holiday cheer until New Year’s Eve then feel totally worn out and fed up over winter, but this time around I’m really trying to make the most of the season to get me through to the spring. I’m definitely one of those people who don’t feel entirely themselves during the winter, so getting out and embracing the season really helps. Matt and I had such a great time up Grouse Mountain the other day – there are pics below as proof! Other items on the winter bucket list: ice skating at Robson Square, cross-country skiing, and the Christmas Train in Stanley Park! What do you all have planned?

Keeping it real in snowshoes and enjoying a beautiful sunset with nachos and beer! Perfect winter day.

Happy hump-day to all of you! To Vogue or Bust

Your snow pictures look amazing, what a contrast from the first few pics. How cold does it get in Vancouver? I like the mint shirt and green bag. Nice mix

We have been so lucky to have such beautiful weather, and even if it gets a bit chillier, that's okay with me as long as the rain stays away!
Love that leather jacket and those booties, and that sunset picture is just beautiful-it is so gorgeous up at Grouse!

I know what you mean about winter and not really feeling yourself, my Christmas mood is kind of deflating as there is no snow yet…I'm sure it shall pick up soon….

  • Reply lisa December 14, 2011 at 6:19 pm

Better to be cold and dry than mildly warm and drenched by rain!

  • Reply Leonie December 14, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Oh man, this looks like such a fun time! And the sunset is absolutely beautiful, great picture.

I definitely "feel confused" by the weather lately, but I won't complain about having that sunshine in between those cold days.

I am really liking the long layered cardi under your leather jacket in this look, love! It is unique and flattering. The colour palette is classic Alex and beautiful 🙂

Did you end up doing the Peak of Christmas thing at Grouse? I checked on the prices online and if I'm correct it's $40 per person? Thinking of begging David to take me but I don't know if it's worth it!

Hope you're having a great week of holiday! And I know what you mean – I'm trying to savour Christmas so that the next few months before spring won't be as bad!

It looks like you had such fun, I definitely need to get out and embrace the cold winter weather, I've just been in feeling sorry for myself so far. You look lovely in the pictures, the blouse really suits you and I love your jacket. It's strange how weather can go from one thing to another in the matter of days! xo

Oh you have tons of snow already! And still sun?! I'm confused, can there be such a perfect combination? Hehe. Here we still don't have any snow…
I tried those snowshoes last year but apparently my feet are too small to fit them…
