When life gives you lemons…you make a belt out of your schoolbag strap. Or at least that’s what I did when I realized I’d left my belt at home and had to improvise with my trusty schoolbag’s spare strap. Fortunately, it actually kind of worked! I was so impressed with my resourcefulness. Sometimes I even impress myself.
The lovely Georgia Heraty of Social Experiment gifted me the beautiful rose and gold ring I’m wearing in this post. Since receiving it in the mail last week, I’ve worn it almost every day. It’s found a very welcome home in my wardrobe to say the least.
My weekend was as amazing as it could’ve been considering all the work I currently have. Though a lot of my weekend was spent hunched over my laptop, I did manage to vote, clean everything, watch some movies, and hang out with family/Matt. That combined with the big dent I put into my schoolwork equals a pretty decent weekend.
Hope you all had a great two days off! If you haven’t already entered and are in the Vancouver area (or planning to come up at some point this year), be sure to enter my Barefoot Contessa giveaway! A $50 gift certificate is up for grabs, it will be a great opportunity to either get a head start on your Christmas shopping or get yourself a little preemptive holiday treat 🙂
clever way to recycle! Glad you had a productive weekend; I felt the same way too. And kudos for getting out there to vote.
I would never have guessed about your belt! It looks great! Glad you had a nice weekend x
You used your bag strap as a belt? GENIUS. I never would have thought about doing this. I'm always short on belts, so this could work … Why are you so brilliant? 🙂

You're so pretty, friend! Love the polka dot tights and your use of layers. Did you find it especially cold this weekend? I wore tights as well and felt positively frozen!!! Anyway, the ring is fab too, love social exp. Glad you had a great jam packed weekend xo
Ohhh I love the layering going on here, and you are soo resourceful with that strap as a belt!! This cardigan is such a beautiful colour with the red skirt, love the combination

Using a bookbag strap as a belt–how MacGyver of you! It worked out well for this outfit though.
I got a ring from Social Experiment too, and like you I've been really impressed by it. My outfit post is coming up next week.
Hope this week treats you well!
How smart to use the strap as a belt, I must try it myself as well! 🙂 I really enjoy your look, the pop of red is so pretty and that coat is stunning!
Rumor Has It
Beautiful!
I was actually going to ask where your belt was from… how resourceful of you to use a bag strap! It looks kind of equestrian 🙂
xo, alison*elle

You've perfectly managed to pick out the colours from your beautiful clutch and create this wonderful wintry outfit.
This is some super gorgeous colour blocking, Alex! Inspires me to jump back on that bandwagon! And I had no idea your "belt" was a bag strap until you said it- how convenient (and clever)!
Hope you're having a good Monday my dear!

So inventive! I would never think to use a bag strap for a belt, but I love how it looks with the gold buckle! So chic, I'm going to have to try that sometime. 🙂
Such a beautiful outfit Alexandra! I love the mix of red and the gold necklace is a perfect accessory. I have to say your beauty kind of distracts me from your clothes though :-). Your hair is looking great by the way! Hope you're having a wonderful start of the week! xoxoxo

alright lovely lady, you are a MacGyver in female form. i'd never imagined to use a strap as a belt before and honestly thought it was a Hermes creation. amazing and clever!
your gifted ring is beautiful and in fact it's glamorous intent translates throughout the whole look. unbelievably dramatic finish with your Wilfred coat, it's a marvel in and of itself!
