October Sky

My go-to look as of late has been a femme skirt or dress, chunky sweater, and little booties. I think I’ve done about twelve different versions of the formula since the temperature first dropped and somehow I’ve yet to tire of it.

My days are so packed as of late that I really, really need comfortable and functional outfits. Having said that, my mood is so affected by what I’m wearing that for the sake of my happiness, it’s still important to look somewhat presentable. This little “styling formula” of mine somehow checks off all of these boxes, plus it’s easier to grab a default look at 6:30 a.m. in the morning and not have to think about whether or not it looks stupid (I swear my brain doesn’t turn on until I’ve been up for a few hours…kind of worrisome actually).

Club Monaco scarf, Zara knit, Zara dress from Cara of a fashion love affair,
Sam Edelman booties, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Swatch watch

I’m so looking forward to this weekend. I’m desperately trying to get all of my work done before Friday rolls around so that I can fully enjoy Thanksgiving. I tend to fall into a lot of food comas (I’d say I average about three a week), but there’s something so special about the turkey coma…all that L-tryptophan….mmm……L-tryptophaaaaaan…

On that creepy note, I’m signing off. Hope you’re all having a great week so far!

Your scarf is so pretty! And you, like always, look gorgeous. I'm excited for Thanksgiving, too! Although I won't be eating Turkey (I'm a Vegetarian) I'll fall into a food coma another way ; )

Stylish "default outfits" are the best for early mornings. It's not called being boring, it's called "having a signature style." 😉

Hahaha I really enjoy your creepy notes!
And I can definitely commiserate about the early morning style formulas, there is nothing better than an oversized chunky sweater when you're on the skytrain and still dreaming of bed!
Love this look, Cara's summery dress looks decidedly fall with the boots and sweater! xx

Pretty outfit! I was so happy the moment I could pull out my knitted sweaters (and the ones of my bf too – oops). I love wearing them.

    Happy Thanksgiving this weekend!

There's nothing wrong with having an early morning getting dressed formula… Some us wouldn't make it through life if it weren't socially acceptable to wear different colours of the same thing every single day 😉 I love the way you took Cara's summer dress and made it into a fall piece by adding that chunky sweater. And of course, your Minkoff shoulder bag makes every outfit perfect as far as I'm concerned 🙂 Hope you have a lovely and restful Thanksgiving, my darling. You've earned it!

Alexandra! I love your blue scarf and your beautiful close-up shots! My week is always jam-packed…day job during the day until 5:00PM, then I squeezed about half an hour to work out and then straight onto doing homework, study and then find about an hour to blog. It's kind of crazy. So I bought a couple of new clothes, all from Zara, great basics in white and black. I'm so glad they ship online now, you have no idea, haha 🙂

I love reading your thoughts on marriage and love, especially the idea of soul mates. Your parents are so lucky to find each other and growing old together. I also understand what you're saying about multiple soul mates and that makes sense. However, I'm a strong believer in finding that one person to be with forever. I don't like the idea of dating a lot of people..I find it exhausting and time-consuming. I only dated two people and I got heartbroken by both of them. It was severely painful and I just don't want to go through that with another guy. I want to be in a relationship where I doubt constantly whether it's going to last or not. I want to find someone who is very consistent and just 100% committed as much as I am. Hopefully, I'll find him one day 🙂 xoxoxoo

That chunky knit is amazing! When the weather gets cold here I become obsessed with finding the perfect sweater lol. Very good combo. You'll be able to rock it all winter 😉

oh Alex, you always have this way of accentuating the positive from every piece you put on. i don't know where this fashion compass of yours has ever turned me wrong, love the whole look!!! Cara's delicate dots with the blues of your scarf are fine pairing. i'm liking the go-to thing you've got going on, i struggle with spur of the moment decisions in the morning and usually have to lay that shizz out the night before.

hope your weekends off to a fab start, happy Thanksgiving lovely friend! xoox ♥
