Back to School

Monday: my last day of sweet, sweet freedom.

At beautiful Third Beach – easily my favourite beach in Vancouver.

The water was not warm, if the pain-filled expressions on our faces didn’t already give that fact away!  I can normally handle near-glacial water temperatures and even I was freezing (Matt’s always a baby about cold water so this is just another day in the life for him)!  Didn’t stop me from going in five times though.  It’s like I need to do it repeatedly in order to personally demonstrate this feat of strength to myself…it’s weird.

After relaxing on the beach for a good long time, we headed to English Bay to get a drink (or two…or three) on a sunny patio.

DON’T I LOOK COOL IN MY HELMET?!?

Anyway, normally we never stop heading over Lions Gate bridge (the road bikers commuting home mean business and would suffer from no guilt if they accidentally/on purpose smacked into you) but we had to stop to check out the sunset.  It’s something special about this time of the year – for about a month now the final hour leading into sunset has been filled with this dense, heavy, golden light.  So beautiful.

Bye-bye sunshine, beaches, and biking – at least until the weekend.  To make the understatement of the century, yesterday was an extremely abrupt departure from my previous day of relaxation and fun.  A 6 am wake-up call (hence the picture and my less-than-amazingly manicured appearance – don’t hate!), back-to-back classes until late afternoon, and finally an overwhelming/scary realization that this year will undoubtedly be the most stressful year of my life (at least in terms of academics).  I’m scared shitless but I’m also really excited to start this new chapter.  K that’s a lie, all I’m feeling right now is terror and zero excitement, but I have a feeling that once I get into the groove of it all I’ll start feeling a bit better.

Just wanted to send you all a little personal plea to please bear with me during these first couple of weeks of school – it will be awhile before I fully fall into a normalized routine so until I do, posting and commenting back may be a bit erratic.  Hope you all understand 🙂

What a perfect way to spend your last day of freedom! At the beach! You're so lucky. Good luck with school! (Fun fact: when I lived in Vancouver I used to teach Pilates classes to the staff at Langara.) ; )

Alexandra! You look beautiful in your bikini! You have such a naturally radiant skin so you don't have to do a lot to look great! I can totally relate to your feeling since I've been working nonstop as well, that means, I sleep way past 2:00AM most nights, just studying and finishing reading assignments. My first exam is in two weeks! Plus I have to take care of my blogging and also my full time job as well. By the way, you can join the newsletter anytime, whenever you're ready :-). xoxoxoxoxo

Wishing you an eventful semester, my dear. I'm two weeks in and having a blast.. probably because it's for fashion and we're doing a ton of sewing and designing! Yay. 😀

Come to Maui!! Our beaches are warm year round. hehehe. Hope you're having a great week.

My bus to work this morning was filled with people going back to school and I couldn't help thinking of you 🙂 (And also being glad I never have to go back to school again- couldn't help it!) I'm sure once you get into the swing of things, everything will be just fine, but the anticipation of 50 hours of classes would be awful, I completely understand. It looks like you ended summer on a high note, at least, even if you did go in the freezing water for no reason (crazy person.) Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Oh man these photos are beautiful! My summer vacation recently ended, and I have to say, it was really hard to let go of late nights, sun, and not having school related responsibilities. Good luck!
