The Scent(s) of Fall

As much as I love summer the most, there’s something about the onset of fall that’s undeniably exciting. That back-to-school feeling really never leaves us even after we’ve left our school days – while the new textbooks and class schedules are gone, that feeling of excitement remains and (for me at least!) gets channeled into obsessions over fall fashion instead. As someone who never feels like an outfit’s complete until I’ve spritzed my current favourite scent, I always find myself looking into a new fragrance around this time of year too, a hunt that Canadian-born retailer Hudson’s Bay and thebay.com makes such an easy, fun experience! I don’t know about you guys, but while I have a few signature scents, I tend to always make my scent selection based off of what I’m wearing. Wrapped up in cozy knits and cable knit sweaters? I’ll likely reach for GUCCI Bamboo, an earthy yet fresh scent that reminds me of crisp fall days. If I’m running through the city in something ‘70s inspired (complete with a trench thanks to Vancouver’s notoriously wet weather), I would pay homage to the decade (and the weather) with My Burberry Eau de Toilette, which captures a fresh garden just after the rain.

I’ve undoubtedly been wearing Givenchy’s Dahlia Divin Eau de Toilette obsessively though, even now in the summer! Its delicate floral fragrance is tempered with a woodiness that works so well as we transition into the season, and I find its blend of femme-with-an-edge suits my personal aesthetic perfectly. A new signature for sure.

I always find after about 20 minutes I’ll know right away if this fragrance is the one (or more accurately, one of the ones since I love so many fragrances!) and how it’s going to blend into my style.
