Our Bedroom Makeover With Article
Words can not express how excited I am to unveil this complete makeover of our new bedroom with Article. We’ve turned to Article over the years again and again and again, whether it was for our former condo’s tight living space (that Soma couch moved with us, of course), our outdoor spaces both side patio and rooftop, and when I was expecting Cal, a small space nursery.
Now that we’ve moved to our new townhouse here in North Vancouver, it was only natural we’d turn faithfully to this unbelievable brand that has delivered on quality, service, and style so consistently for us over the years. We moved into our new space a few months ago and while it’s been a transition that’s swept in a lot of excitement (more space, more levels, more quality, etc), since it was a totally new build it’s definitely very sterile and, well…blank. It’s great that everything’s new, but it also meant a real blank canvas to leave our mark on, and so we knew exactly where we wanted to start with and which brand would help us define our new decor style in this space: Article!
Being first time homeowners, I feel like we’re still developing our (well, let’s be real…my) decor style, but if there’s one thing I know, I love a really organic, warm and timeless feel to my decor. Cue in Article, which as you might know is really renowned for its mid-century modern style (on full display in our nightstands, more on that in a minute), but also has so many incredible functional and stylish pieces that bring in current trends while still delivering on that really classic, forever quality their pieces are so known for.
Which brings me to the piece de resistance, the bed. If you don’t believe in vision boards, then I might change your mind right here and right now – last year I literally had a gorgeous bouclé bed set against a limewash wall pasted right up on my vision board, and lo and behold, the Kayra Ivory Bouclé Bed. It is the most gorgeous bed I’ve ever seen – it was so important to me to have a really serene space in our new bedroom, and this gorgeous plush texture and natural curved silhouette just feel like I’m being hugged. It is also so effortlessly stylish and really adds gravity to the room.
Naturally, we wanted to extend that cozy feel so also opted for coordinating the Maribo Ivory Bouclé Bench, and chose the slightly shorter 32” width to allow for more space. I’ve never owned a bench before but it really makes such a difference, we’ve added so much from a storage perspective to it and I find I actually use it functionally so much, whether it’s to rest something or to sit down to change.
The Vireo Nightstands were another very easy choice, with their beautiful mid-century silhouette and timeless wood finish. We opted for our nightstands in Oak and I love the warmth it brings to our space. The quiet shut drawers help us store just enough essentials and anchor the light bouclé so beautifully. Any and all of our wooden pieces from Article are so high quality, just amazing craftsmanship.
I am beyond excited that Article has expanded into bedding and mattresses now as well, anything they do is so unmatched as far as quality and so in creating this space, opting for gorgeous bedding from their new line was a no-brainer. Our room was at risk of becoming a sad, beige room (though I kind of feel compelled to advocate for happy beige rooms too, as the soft airy neutrals in the space honestly make me so happy), so we did decide to go with the Meso Seafoam Brushed Cotton Set to add an inject of cheery colour (and also softness…so unbelievably soft!). We also went for the Alto Linen Ivory Duvet Cover as well, which helped brighten things up further in the perfect off-white. Both are just unbelievably high-quality and as mentioned, so, so soft. Working with Leesa to also offer mattresses is a game changer, now Article is your convenient one-stop shop to easily fulfil all your bedroom needs.
We’ve been so blown away with our new bedroom additions we’re not quite done yet either…we’ll be adding in Article’s Truro Travertine Stone Lamps on both nightstands as well. I’m really drawn to organic texture and shapes, and I feel like the natural, Roman material and shape of these lamps is going to be so perfect in this space. As you can see, we went with a limewashed accent wall (which I did all by myself, I’m very proud to say) and these lamps will be an absolute dream against that wall.
There is really nothing more gratifying than having a vision (like, literally a vision on my vision board) and seeing it come to life. Getting our space pulled together has been slow going, but I feel like having a really clear sense of what I want and holding that vision has meant knowing when the right piece is the right piece, and when to pull the trigger in investing. It’s also meant being a bit more at peace with the slow pace of getting things set up since I know what I want and want to get it right, and the joy I’m getting from this bedroom alone is a testament to how rewarding it is to really see your ideal space through.
As you guys know, I’m really a forever Article devotee so I’m so ecstatic I got to create this very special space in collaboration with them and to really take advantage of the wide array of products they now offer for bedrooms and beyond. Not only are the pieces always mind-blowing, but we always have the most amazing experience with their team from the moment something is ordered to an amazing post-cart experience all the way to delivery (and support afterwards, if needed). It’s truly such a special brand and an elite decor experience.
