Lady in Red
Pollen Sweater Inc. crewneck, bag c/o Mary Nichols, vintage dress, H&M wedges
My girls trip away to Pender Island this past weekend could not have been more perfect. Since this was my last “West Coast weekend,” I’d like to think Mother Nature conspired to put on a great show for me: the sun was out, seals were playing, there was this consistent light breeze and most surprisingly of all: it was actually warm enough to suntan.
Emaan, one of my faves, took these pics for me on our little sundeck where we spent about 50 per cent of our time – can you believe she doesn’t have a photography background?! Follow her on Twitter here for lots of fun updates on everything from the local music scene to the latest Vancouver happenings!
The sweater I’m wearing in these photos is actually kind of special to me. My family’s cabin is on the Sunshine Coast, and we’re about a ten minute drive away from the fishing village of Lund, one of my favourite little spots in the world. There’s a company there called Pollen Sweaters Inc. that sells these special fisherman sweaters that are quite literally impervious to just about anything. They completely shield you from the cold, they can go in the washer and dryer, they stand up to salt water, etc etc. Anyway, everyone in my family gets one at one point or another since we spend so much time on the Coast and this year I finally got mine in red! I love that it’s incredibly practical but it’s still cute enough to throw with more stylish pieces, like my favourite little vintage sundress.
Here’s a few more parting snapshots of my weekend away:
My friend Amanda (who’s back from med school in Ireland for a visit, so happy!) as we crossed over the ocean to Pender Island.
Wine: the star of the weekend. My delicous Rosé here reflects the trees outside.
Looks like such a fun weekend! Red looks great on you by the way! Lovely look

Sounds like your trip to Pender was a great way to say good-bye to the ocean. My parents have a place on Saturna Island, so I make sure to visit it every time I'm out West so that I can remember how amazing the coast really is.

These shots have me swooning, pally. I was living vicariously through your gorgeous weekend via Instagram and these shots definitely do not disappoint – particularly the shot of your rose glass with the tree reflection. And you are looking as effortlessly lovely as ever. That Pullen sweater caught my eye instantly; I would never have guessed it was a practical piece, it's so stylish and such a lovely colour! And the perfect match with your adorable chevron print vintage dress. Hope you week is off to a good start, my lovely pal
