There’s something very distinctly cowgirlish about this outfit – I fully did not intend on creating any style ode to the Wild West but whether it’s the booties or the roughshod tied leather belt, it definitely has a distinct Western look to it. Which incidentally, I actually kind of love – I find during the summer I get in the habit of always just looking quite…”beachy.” Channeling a bit more of a rough-and-tumble or edgy aesthetic helps me break away from the monotonous cycle I tend to get into around this time of the year (not that I’m complaining though, I’d much rather fall into a “beachy” rut than a rain-boots-and-skinnies-for-weeks-on-end rut, which will be inevitable in about three months’ time).
Anyway, however I do end up styling this O’Neill dress, I love how easily it transports me from work to play, which is exactly what it did last night. After work, my parents came over to check out our new space – after an al fresco dinner, we headed off to see Bard on the Beach, which was lovely. The dress did double-duty and was the perfect piece to get me through another steamy July day.

I live in dresses in skirts from May to November. It's SO HOT in Florida in the summer. The thought of wearing skinnies when it's so hot makes me want to pass out! You look great in this dress. I love dresses that can easily go from work to play 🙂
