Warning!!! Extremely photo-heavy post ahead, but in my defence, Cascais is truly one of the most beautiful places you can ever go to in the world so I’m really just trying my best to do it justice. Whether it was these flowers (anyone know the name of them?) that are so brightly pink they almost look like they’re electric-powered, the vibrant blue of the ocean and sky or the historic buildings around town, Cascais is truly overwhelmingly beautiful. Like I mentioned in my last couple of Lisbon posts (here and here), not only is there so much to do in the actual city itself, but there are so many incredible places like Cascais that are just a half hour train ride away. Transit and cabbing is so cheap in Lisbon so it’s well worth your time (and money) to get out and see the amazing cities and villages nearby.
Cascais is more of a seaside resort town than anything, but there’s still some beautiful history here and it’s really just worth getting lost in the residential streets as you make your way uphill away from the sea (of course, come back and go for a swim afterwards!). We stopped in at Moules et Gin after I saw a recommendation from Not Your Standard to go there and we definitely were not disappointed. So much amazing and fresh seafood in Portugal, and as I mentioned before, you can really eat on the cheap here! It’s not only one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in my life, but one of the most affordable.
As you have probably noticed by now, I’ve made good use of a lot of my basics on this trip. It’s simply not my style and I quite honestly couldn’t be bothered to lug around 3 suitcases with me over months away. I was going it alone for the most part (so straight up, I couldn’t have carried more than one suitcase because sadly, I’m not that strong) and I also just like travelling as lightly as possible – as always, simplifying life made it that much more enjoyable.
Being a style blogger though and bouncing all over the place for months at a time meant getting a little strategic with my packing. I went for a lot of the same basics (A-line skirts like this Obakki style that I have in 3 colours, basic silk tank tops like this Joe Fresh one, linen T-shirts that dry easily bought on the cheap at H&M) worn again and again in slightly different variations. I really relied on my jewelry to switch up looks since you can buy a lot of cheap beaded pieces while travelling around (I also packed hardly any makeup and no hair styling products, so it really came down to these baubles to differentiate my looks!). I’m honestly really happy with how everything worked out and if you’re like me and don’t want to be that girl with 500 bags on her, would definitely suggest figuring out what basics you can happily wear day after day and buy them in bulk before your next trip!
On that note, while I’m in full holiday mode at the moment (proof here and here), I’m really excited to start including more travel content in the near future, and not just travel diaries from my trip (the best is yet to come PS, eek!). I learned so much about myself, about life, about self-sufficiency and about style on this trip and I can’t wait to share that with you soon, whether it’s the basics you need for a week away, how to travel alone as a girl (I had some hilarious/weird incidents that were good lessons) or my favourite apps for smooth travelling. I’ve included a couple of my favourite travel posts so far to that effect but I’d love to hear any specific requests – tell me in the comments below! Happy Friday, friends!
You're in my country now :p Cascais is beautiful and Portugal is perhaps an especially good place to go on holidays because it's cheap and has good weather. And a lot of cultural things to visit as well. I miss it so much right now ahah
Wow! It looks amazing there! You look gorgeous! Especially for not having many styling products with you!

Beautiful outfit! I love that cream skirt, and the crop top looks great with it. The printed sandals are perfect!
