I’ve been trying to take things easy since I’m going through a pretty big change this month (more on that later this month!). It’s an exciting change, but any change (wedding, graduation, new job, etc) can be really stressful. You start feeling worn down, unfocused, etc, etc. I feel like I’m getting better as I get older at catching myself rolling into one of these ruts early on, and the solution’s always the same: get back to basics.
Get enough sleep, scale back on work, take a moment to relax each day, eat nutrient-rich food, drink a lot of water and get regular exercise. Just focusing on general health helps my mind calm down so much. More than anything, I find my body and my soul really benefit from having a super boring, regimented routine whenever life gets a bit nuts. I go to bed at the same time, wake up at the same time and try to stay quiet near home as much as possible.
Take this week, for example – the furthest I ventured out this week was to Granville Island for flowers and more groceries for my recent Whole 30 food plan (Day 6!). Taking things easy has even applied to my styling. I’ve been sticking to my classic uniform (also seen here recently!) of skinnies, my favourite leather jacket and a basic tee every single day – fortunately, a little pop of pink helps to liven up the otherwise basic look!
What do you guys do when you start feeling overwhelmed? Give me tips – I need them!

I think the pink pump is the perfect way to transition a strong black and white look into something that feels more springtime. And you can never go wrong with the addition of some pretty flowers.
