Easy Like Sunday Morning

Vancouver’s been covered in a blanket of fog for about three days and though I missed my sunshine, the fog actually gave me a good reason to finally hunker down inside and catch up on some much-needed rest. I spent the whole weekend just lazing about, going for the occasional run/walk here and there but mostly just hanging inside with friends. It was just what I needed.
Needless to say, the fog didn’t exactly inspire any grand sartorial dreams so this is how I was dressed all weekend long: comfy skinnies, my cozy cape and knits like this beautiful sweater from local brand Left on Houston. It was like a cabin trip but…without a cabin. And in Vancouver.
Another reason why I was particularly glad to have a low-key weekend was because I really desperately needed to hit a reset button before beginning a 40 day challenge I’ve set for myself (starting…today!). Inspired by Gabby Berstein‘s book May Cause Miracles (which is based around a 40 day program), after having had the rough few weeks I just escaped, I really want to do a basic self-care bootcamp for the next 40 days. The essentials of good physical/mental health (taking me time, running, eating whole foods, etc) fell by the wayside once shit hit the fan. I’m trying to focus on forming three very basic but very integral habits that I used to be great about but that I’ve forgotten about during this rough patch: 1. move every day (walk/run/gym/whatever), 2. take some time alone each day and 3. make my bed each morning. They’re such simple goals but at the same time, I think taking 40 days to reform these habits will just help me feel so much more on track!
Do you guys have any basic habits you’re trying to reform or kick off?
Love the layering you did here – the shape & style of this coat is so cute!

Those are all really wonderful goals for the challenge, that actually sounds like fun. Other than the making your bed part haha
This is such a perfect combination of layers!! I love the cape, so cozy looking, great for days spent relaxing 🙂
I have NOT been getting enough sleep since starting my blog (too much web surfing and research!) so that's definitely something I need to prioritize again!! Love your cape here…anything I can wrap up in like a blanket looks good right about now!!
your outfit looks so cozy here I love it and I'm going to buy a black pair of skinnies from forever21 as well. I had one and I wore it to death for 2 years haha
this 40 day challenge sounds really good, I started something similar a little while ago not actual challenge but just to get back into good habits and taking care of myself 🙂
xo
Love your poncho jacket! Looks warm! Good luck with your 40 day health program! Sounds like a great way to get back on track!

I can't believe the fog recently, it's like the Dementors are on their way! You look gorgeous here, I really love your boots xo
I'm working on getting active and on finishing my story.
Gorgeous cape dear! I love your items from Loft 82 and I always click the link, and am bummed that there isn't an online site. Ho hum, I'll just have to visit Vancouver!
