I find that in the winter more than any other season, you become completely reliant on several key style pieces. I love that the mid-heel on these Patience boots from La Canadienne offer just enough height to give a slinky quality to an all-black bottom half (juxtaposed with a big chunky sweater on top!) but are still super comfortable to wear all day (believe me, I’ve gone 12 hours in these boots already!). Love the idea of pairing similarly fitted bottoms (think leather leggings, distressed denim, etc) with other cozy toppers, like a teddy coat, snuggly sweater or a leather jacket topped with a big scarf (like I wore here!).

With a simple shift dress (this Everly dress from Barefoot Contessa is a recent fave!), my La Canadienne boots add some winter-apropos sexiness without coming across as too casual for an evening affair.
