I’m usually one to completely shy away from dark eye makeup. With green eyes, freckles and dark hair, for whatever reason I always feel like a smokey, sultry look just looks wrong on me – like my features are getting drowned in pigment rather than getting played up. Thankfully, with the right products and a couple key techniques, myself and the lovely Erin of The Sparkle teamed up to create a moody fall beauty look that’s perfect for green eyes – best of all, I actually recently did this exact beauty look on one of my best friends Emaan, who has darker features and beautiful brown eyes, and it looked killer on her too. Moral of the story is while this is targeted to play up green eyes, whatever colour your peepers are, this will look amazing on anyone and everyone! Click through to read the full tutorial and to get all product details!

The Eyes

1. Once you have your base on (I just did a luminous primer, concealer, blush & my brows),
you can start tackling the eyes! The key to this look is to build up colour slowly to suit your
face – really work in layers. I can’t wear as dark of an eye as Emaan for instance (who I was
able to intensify this look for) so begin by gently applying a small amount of purple
pigment (I love this grey-purpleshade called Pretty Purple by Kjaer Weis, available
at Le Vert) to your eyelid.
2. This is key! With a clean fluffy brush, blend the pigment across your eyelid, into your
crease (a good tip here is to look down your nose as you do this to see the natural shadow
of your crease and to extend it in a cat-eye shape slightly past it). Keep brushing off the
pigment that picks up on your clean brush and repeat Steps 1-2 until you have a shape
and intensity you like.

3. Tap some of the shadow with a liner brush right into the base of your lower
lash line and with a clean brush again, carefully blend and smoke it out.
4. To accentuate the cat eye effect, once you have your base lash set, work in some
added intensity in just the outer corner and crease of both eyes and again, blend well!

5. With a dark brown pencil liner (or purple, grey, etc), line both the top and bottom
waterlines and smudge some liner on your top lash line as well – since the pencil is
a more malleable texture than liquid or gel, you can even grab your clean brush again
and smoke out the line you’ve drawn so that it really blends in with the shadow. Of course,
add a couple lashings of your favourite mascara when you’re done and feel free to touch
up you brows, highlighter, powder, etc to finish off the eye. I generally come in with some
loose translucent powder to wipe away any excess eyeshadow that may have fallen down.

1. With well-conditioned lips, work a berry tint slowly onto your lips – literally can’t
stop wearing the Goddess lip tint by Kjaer Weis, it looks so intense but it actually comes
out as more of a colour wash! It’s the perfect product because you can really control
the intensity.

2. Even if a tint comes out of a tube, I always blend in with my fingers – you want that
natural, pillowy effect at the end rather than precise lines. Similarly to the eye, really
work this in in layers so that you can adjust the intensity accordingly.

And you’re done! Easy peasy, no? I love that with just a few products and a couple easy steps, I’ve finally found a signature smokey look that while definitely more sultry and intense than my usual beauty look, still feels effortless and in a weird way, natural. Maybe because I’m playing up my natural features (I actually really love having green eyes but always struggle to highlight them), maybe because both Kjar Weis products are green beauty products, or maybe because it’s in keeping with my 10-mintes or less beauty philosophy. At any rate, I’d love for you to try it out and to tell me what you think!

Green eyes are not talked about in beauty as often as blue and brown, huh?

This look is gorgeous on you and seems simple enough to follow! I have light brown eyes, and find purple is a great colour to make them pop. So flattering on different skin tones, too.
