I’m really a pretty diehard West Coast type, so when Bench asked me to take them through a typical 24 hours in my hometown of Vancouver, Canada in celebration of their global #LoveMyHood campaign, I was all over the chance to share some of my favourite spots in the city! Naturally, I’d be dressed in the British brand’s signature blend of activewear with on-point design details – the perfect combination for active Vancouver life! So without further ado, click through to join me for a typical day in my life here in the coast!
Fairview Sea Wall
One of the absolute best parts about living in Vancouver is that you’re quite literally right next to the sea. If you follow me on Snapchat, I’m sure you already know how much time I spend on the Sea Wall – whether I’m going for a quick jog, biking en route to the beach or just relaxing in one of the many parks or beaches dotting the Sea Wall, I am on that beautiful stretch of the seaside at least once a day.

There are literally dozens upon dozens of incredible brunch places to choose from in the city, but Matt and I love Cafe Zen for its unpretentious vibe, its consistently incredible breakfast classics (all over the bennies!) and the friendly staff, not to mention it’s only a 5 minute bike ride away on (you guessed it!) the Sea Wall.
My favourite beach is actually Third Beach with Spanish Banks right behind it, but Kits can’t be beat for its central location and it truly is a Vancouver classic. My daddy-o was head lifeguard here and at Third during his university days so I have a family connection to both beaches too.
Undoubtedly my favourite part of the city. Matt and I used to come here all the time when we were still young, fresh faced kids but when we decided to move in together, we knew exactly where we wanted to be…right next to Granville Island! I even sometimes get a Granville Island employee discount (a whole $1 off!) from some of the vendors who remember that I creepily show up pretty much every day. It’s an absolute sightseeing must but it’s also just a great place to unwind and escape downtown if you’re a local.
If you’re in the mood for historical sightseeing, amazing drinks/food, incredible shopping and people watching, Gastown’s your go-to. It’s truly such a beautiful place and you can easily spend a whole day popping in and out of all its amazing shops, bars and restaurants (not to mention it’s one of the most photo-worthy spots in the city).
Vancouverites love their coffee and where to find the best coffee in the city is always a hotly debated question, but while I have lots of favourites (remember this post?), I’ve got to give it up to Vancouver staple JJ Bean for their staying power and consistency. Love swinging by their Gastown location with Alicia on our work dates!
The Diamond has been my favourite space in the city for drinks going on four years strong, which is quite a long time for a fickle-natured person like me. While the drinks are amazing, it’s really the beautiful space itself and the almost “secret room” vibe of the cocktail parlour that wooed me.
Stay tuned for Monday on Bench’s blog to get the full 24-hour #LoveMyHood guide (yes, this was just a taste!) and share your love for your city in Bench with that same hashtag (#LoveMyHood). Don’t have a beautiful Bench piece of your own yet to highlight? Get shopping on the British brand’s online store here!
