I had such a good long break last week – taking breaks from my laptop and more alone/family time has been one of my goals for a looong time, and while the holidays made it easy to facilitate those goals, it’s definitely something I’m hoping to really focus on more than ever before in 2014! More on that in the new year – so excited to make this my year, both career- and health-wise. Hope you all had an equally lovely Christmas week (and hopefully lots and lots of rest too!).
Dress c/o Free People, Michael Kors heels, vintage purse,
After shooting in Hotel Vancouver with Ainsley for our The Everygirl feature (part one here and part two here), I knew I had to come here again to showcase this stunning dress from Free People! Before even slipping it on I knew it would be my New Year’s dress – I know sequins aren’t exactly a revolutionary idea for New Year’s Eve, but believe it or not, I’ve never done the full sequin look for NYE before and it’s definitely something which you should experience at least once in life, right?
Well, the Shimmy Shimmy Party Dress certainly lived up to its name – it’s made for twirling! Despite the fact that I’m heading to a borderline slummy bar for New Year’s Eve, now that I’ve gotten a full preview, I honestly can not wait to break it out for the big day tomorrow night!
I styled it here for a decidedly more classy party space – retro curls, Art Deco-inspired earrings and a vintage purse give it a more polished, femme appeal. But for tomorrow night, I’m going to do slightly messier, beachier hair, toss a leather jacket on and wear it with booties to make it a bit more bar-apropos. If you love this dress, you’ll want to check out all of Free People’s other party dresses – I can’t say enough good things about their amazing pieces, I always end up wearing them to death!
