Five Minutes to a Rosy Glow

I don’t like to spend too much time in the morning on the whole makeup-and-hair routine, a. because I generally prefer a more natural look and b. more than anything, I’m just too lazy. That’s why I rely on pretty but simple beauty tricks, especially a bright lip. As much as I love me a cat eye, bright lips are really the only thing I would consider a beauty signature of mine, and petal pinks are a special favourite. Since petal pink is such a strong yet femme shade, discrete but polished rosy-hued touches for the rest of the face is the way to go!
Read on to see a super simple rosy-hued tutorial that’s aimed at giving you that fresh, flushed glow in about 5 minutes flat!

First, primer – I love this tinted one by Lise Watier that helps minimize red! Just apply in a circular motion with your fingertips.

I’m using Cargo’s Blu-Ray High Definition Powder just where needed, mostly around my jawline, chin, forehead and nose. Less is definitely more in this area! To make sure I’m not overapplying, I always press my brush down on a mirror or the flip side of a compact to lift off some residual product and then I apply.

Also loving Cargo’s blush in Ibiza (and cool side note, this blush is waterproof!). It’s such a pretty pink and most definitely something that accents a petal rose lip well. I’m big on concentrating blush on the apples of the cheeks and then extending the colour along the tops of cheekbones.

I’m usually not much of an eyeshadow person but since I want to skip liner (and since I’m such a fan of Lise Watier’s soufflé shadow), I’m just going to blend in a little bit of this stunning rose gold shade over my lids. Love that it’s still super discrete and natural but helps polish the look a bit.

A couple coats of mascara using my favourite technique: the blink and roll. Broken down in three simple steps, put the wand at the base and do a little wiggle to separate lashes, slowly start blinking your lashes through and then once it’s near the tips, wiggle the wand again to extend through. If you’re running short on time and don’t have time to curl your lashes, this is a good little 2-in-1!

Last but not least, I reach for my favourite petal pink shade ever: Lush’s Emotional Brilliance lipstick in Believe (which is incidentally my 2013 mantra word!). I love love love Lush’s lipsticks PS, a bit more of a durable wear, more pigmented and the colours are stunning. Go take the colour test!

And you’re done! Rosy and pulled-together but still completely fresh-faced, my favourite kind of beauty look! This is my ideal day-time event or work look. Give it a whirl and let me know how you like it 🙂
Hope you all have an amazing weekend! Happy long weekend to all my fellow Canucks – any big plans?
