I like to keep it real here, so when I do a beach to street series…I really do go from the beach to date night. When these pics were snapped, my bathing suit top (which had felt totally dry at the beach after lying in the sun for what felt like forever) had juuust started dampening my dress. 15 minutes into our margaritas at Bridges, I looked down and realized my bathing suit top had entirely soaked through my dress. Awkwaaaard!!! Thankfully, silk dries quickly and I managed to avoid an uncomfortable, guns-a-blazin’ exit from the restaurant, but still…who hasn’t been there?! The whole “seepage” situation just seems to be an unavoidable style conundrum during the summer. If any of you happen to have a magical solution, I’m all ears!

Anyway, here’s my whole two-step breakdown of how to take a completely natural beach look to a casual patio drinks date look: 1) lipstick and 2) perfume. That’s it. It’s summertime so beauty- and hair-wise, let’s keep it as minimal as possible. You can also pack a pair of comfy wedges in your beach bag like I did – flip flops take up little to no room in your bag once you swap the wedges in. Anyway, a whole two minutes later and you’re set! Isn’t summer lovely? It’s my favourite season for a reason…so low-maintenance and happy.

Speaking of happy, thank you all for the wonderful reaction to yesterday’s giveaway! If you want to enter to win a pair of James Jeans skinnies yourself, enter now – the contest only runs for a week and is open worldwide!

Perfect. That dress is gorgeous! The whole bathing suit top leaking through clothing is the worst and you said it AWKWARD. I always hate when I've been at the pool all day and have to run a quick errand, but feel it's completely necessary to do a whole outfit change to avoid it…so annoying!!
