In all honesty, my makeup routine usually consist of some sunscreen, some lip balm…and that’s it. But when I have somewhere to be afterwards or if ever I wanted to look more pulled together (say there was a pool or beach party), this easy 5-step process is my go-to.
1. I mix Almay CC Cream with some sunscreen and
apply over my face with fingers for a natural finish.
2. I read in an article on Into the Gloss that mascara should
be one of the first things you apply – I can’t remember who
said it or what the rationale was but I tried it and have to
say it does make sense – any flakes or mishaps and you
don’t have to ruin any of your other makeup. Anyway, I’m
using Mineral Fusion mascara here – full disclosure, I
really hate waterproof mascara, so I’d rather just stick to regular
mascara and use a makeup remover wipe if I decide to take a dip.
3. I dust some Almay Smart Shade bronzer over my nose, along
my cheekbones, on my temples and on my décolletage. I finish
off with a more concentrated burst of colour on the apples of my cheeks.
4. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, if there’s one thing I believe in,
it’s highlighter. I take a touch of Revlon‘s Photoready Skinlights and
blend it into the top of my cheekbones. I also apply some to my brow
bones and here’s the trick: extend it past your eyebrows into
your temples. Learned this from a makeup artist once while on set.
5. I just finish off with a couple swipes of Annabelle’s
twist-up lipstick crayon in Mai Tai and I’m done!
And so concludes my beach series this week – you can also check out part one, two and three! We’ll be back with an outfit post tomorrow :). Before then, I’d love your feedback – your input means everything because I want to make sure I give you more of what you want!
A couple questions: do you like more thematic and season-driven content like the beach series, and do you like seeing a theme come together with more than just outfit posts? Also, I’ve been toying around with the idea of adding more fitness elements to the blog for awhile…a. would you like this and b. if so, what would you like? Interviews with fitness experts, my personal tips on the range of sports/activities I do, nutrition, etc?
Thanks for all your great feedback so far this week and thanks in advance for your input on this post – it means a lot!

When it comes to beach beauty I'm very minimal. I use facial suncreen and maybe a little bronzer. I'm the girl that heads straight for the water whenever I go to the beach so make-up doesn't really last long on me lol

Your makeup is beautiful! I love Almay CC Cream. It sounds like a quick routine as well.

I liked the beach series/themes. I also like outfit posts. Whatever you do, I'll read it!

I'd love fitness posts. Something on motivation to work out and how to get toned arms (my problems!).

I've been loving the summer related posts! Please keep those coming. And I would absolutely love to hear your fitness and nutrition tips! I think it's nice to read content that isn't necessarily 100% fashion related – it lets us know you a little better too! 🙂

This beach series was so much fun and I'd definitely like to see more thematic series like this. Not all the time though, because your regular outfit posts are fabulous as is, but maybe every month or two a themed week would create a nice change of pace from the "norm." Also, is there any chance you might be bringing back your weekend videos?
