Considering how beautiful it is today, I wish I had some sunny pictures to show you instead of these decidedly….grey ones. But that’s the life of a blogger with a full-time job! You get shoots in when you can, you schedule your week down to the minute and you cross your fingers that you get some time to catch up on all your favourite blogs at some point or another (though more often than not, that doesn’t happen). Not that I’m complaining – I blog as often as I do by choice. But you do have to become exceptionally organized and on-the-ball, two things that I really am not by nature.
Speaking of which, my fellow Canadian blogette Adventures in Fashion recently wrote a great post about just how to balance the work-blog-life conundrum. Definitely worth a read! I feel like I still haven’t gotten to a place yet where I feel like I’ve sorted out my systems and patterns – I’m hoping that at some point or another, I figure out a way of balancing my work, my blog and my personal life (not to mention exercise, sleep, etc) in such a way that it doesn’t always feel like peace and calm is juuuust escaping my grasp. Having said that, I have started making little strides toward feeling more balanced. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but now that I am feeling more settled into my new patterns, I have managed to kick it up from three to four posts a week. Woot! I don’t necessarily feel like post frequency is the most important thing, but for me, I like to play around with outfits and come up with more looks – posting more often (when it’s manageable) is just more fun for me.
I also am finally sleeping. It’s the most incredible thing. I know for most people, passing out around 11 p.m. is not a big deal, but for me it’s just become the most unexpected but extraordinary thing. Some people have said that it’s likely just a combination of working, exercising, going to events and then doing the blog (i.e. having a lot on my plate), but I really think it’s actually taking time away from certain stressors that’s helped me finally doze off with ease. Whatever it is, I’m enjoying it!
Well I’m off to the cabin for the long weekend, and I’ll likely take this effortless but statement-worthy Blackbird necklace with me – what a beauty. I love this Toronto duo’s futuristic but accessible designs and I can already tell I’m going to get heaps upon heaps of wear out of this piece!
Before I peel off post-ramble though, tell me: if you do work full-time, what tricks or tactics have worked for you in terms of achieving a work-blog-life balance?

It can be so hard figuring out the balance since as you know my particular full-time job often requires even more than the regular full-time hours 😉 I don't post as often enough as I would like but when I do have the free time (weekends or some evenings) I'll try and prep as many posts as I can in advance. Glad you are finding some balance of your own and are still able to post so frequently!

Great shirt and shoes 🙂 I think you manage the work-blog thing quite well as we get a lot of updates from you! I only go to university which isn´t as time consuming as working but from time to time I don´t know when to write my posts either. I´m glad I don´t just do outfits posts because with them I really wouldn´t know when to write because you can´t prepare them weeks in advance when you haven´t even been taking the pics.
