So I’m sure some of you might be wondering why I’m going to Toronto since I keep bringing up apartment hunting, which is evidently my new obsession.
I wanted to give myself some time to feel like it was all really happening before I announced it on the blog, but now that I’ve absorbed it fully, I’m very excited to announce that the reason I’m headed to T-Dot over the summer is for an online editorial internship at FASHION Magazine!
If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you’d know that initially, I started To Vogue or Bust with the express purpose of documenting my path to fashion journalism (which explains the title). I started the blog on April 13, 2010 because I’d been grappling with determining which was most important: following the career I’d dreamt of doing since I was a kid or taking the more financially secure route and heading into law.
To make a long story short, I came to the conclusion that in order to be happy and complete I had to follow my passions. I made a commitment to myself to try, try, try, and see where it took me. And of course, having received my BA in Psych I knew that if I announced this goal publicly, I’d feel more motivated to keep it – and that’s how the blog was born!
The morning of my interview!
I’m generally quite hard on myself, but as I’m coming up on my two year blogiversary, I’ve got to give myself a little pat on the back. Since beginning To Vogue or Bust, I have worked hard on making my dreams materialize and I feel like all the work that I’ve done thus far has culminated in this amazing opportunity. I’m still obviously in the very early stages of my career, but I feel like I’m headed in the right direction.
Anyway, I really hope you all come along with me for my adventure out east this summer! I really want to also express how thankful I am for all your support and lovely words – I never expected to make such amazing connections both online and in real life thanks to the blog, which was really initially intended to just be a bit of a career diary. I’m grateful for all these incredible connections every day – how blessed am I that I get to share a bit of myself and learn about others in such a unique and dynamic way!
At the Converse S/S 2012 press review last night – loved this men’s style for both Matt and myself!
Okay so on a much, much less happy note, I have to take my road test today for my full licence (dun dun DUUUN…seriously, stay off the roads). I am pretty much the laughing stock of my family/friends/everyone who knows me for my subpar driving skills so this should be fun. If I actually pass, I am officially declaring today as “Miracles Do Happen Day” from here on out.
Hope all of you have an amazing weekend! xx
***UPDATE: I did pass my road test! Shocking. So go out and do the unthinkable, apparently it will pan out today since it is in fact Miracles Do Happen Day.
