Tick of the Clock

Vintage pants c/o Shoppalu, Club Monaco bustier, blazer, wrap-bracelet, & scarf,
Urban Outfitters Clutch, H&M bracelets & umbrella

After such an amazing weekend filled with nothing but eating, exercising, relaxing, and laughing, it’s finally time to put the nose back to the grindstone! Surprisingly, I’m not too sad to get back to work. The long weekend was exactly what I’d hoped it would be: an opportunity for me to fully recharge my batteries, and recharge them I did. Really, it’s hard not to feel completely rested after having spent three days straight in pyjamas (an assortment of flannel Christmas ones to be exact). The prospect of taking these beautiful new pants from Shoppalu out to play finally got me out of my PJ’s though, even in the rain! And so my flannel phase came to a close.

This might not be something that most visitors of my blog pick up on at first, but I usually hate pants. I have an almost overly-hourglass figure and have always had the hardest time finding pants that fit. They’re always either too snug through the bottom or gape at the waist. To put how much I hate pants-shopping in perspective, let me put it this way: while most women hate shopping for bikinis, I usually enjoy it. Put me to the task of finding trousers though, and after about five minutes in the change room I’m bound to lose it and storm out angrily (because obviously it’s the retailer’s fault), give or take a few tears.

When the lovely Janice of Shoppalu dropped off these pants for me, I was actually really nervous at first. I was excited to style something that was out of my comfort zone, but I was worried they’d look horrible on me. Once I slid on the pants though, I was ecstatic: the cinched-in, high-waisted cut worked perfectly around my waist while the loose cut of the leg gave my runners’ legs some breathing room. Though I’ve always been a skirt or dress kind of girl, I’m now excitedly planning all the different outfits I can incorporate this new silhouette into.

If you haven’t visited Shoppalu yet, go. They have one of the best-curated collections of vintage pieces I’ve ever seen, and all orders over $100 have free shipping fees within Canada and the U.S.! I already have my eye on this dark green cocoon coat…may have to get myself a little treat once I make it half-way through first term!

Those pants are so great, the colour is so perfect on you. I am usually not a big fan of pants either so it's nice to find ones that fit properly. I love the navy blazer and the green clutch too, so wonderful together

You took a risk on these pants, and it completely paid off. I would never have been brave enough to go for bright pink, but they are absolute perfection on, especially with your blazer and ruched bustier (which, by the way, might be the the most adorable thing ever. LOVE it.) The added detail of your polkadot umbrella and scarf belt just push this over the edge. So gorgeous. Sounds like you had a wonderful long weekend- everything is better in flannel pajamas, as far as I'm concerned 😉

Alexandra, you are a vision! This is like one of those posts I see on streetstyle blogs where I am so utterly blown away by the stylish subject I save all the pictures to pore over again and again! (haha I don't mean in a creepy way)

The silhouette is so clean and yet each of the pieces are so individually stunning in their details. And don't get me started on those heels – I have been searching for a classy grey pair like that since forever.

    Absolutely lovely.

OMG, I wrote you a long, detailed comment on my iPhone, but it got lost in cyberspace : ( Anyway, in a nutshell, I can say this is one of my favourite of your outfits, I have the same issue with pants, and I solved it by taking them to be tailored at the couturier, which makes them fit just perfectly. But wash them once first in case they shrink : ) Darn, my first write was so much more eloquent!!!

those awesome pants would shake me out of my pj's too!!! i love the way you've accessorized this whole look Alex, the scarf belt is brilliant! polka dot brolly has also stolen my heart but you and all your beautiful poses are surely the icing on this gateau. i swear you don't have a bad side at all. i once read that Christy Turlington has the most symmetrical face of all and i'm thinking this is what you've been blessed with also. GORGEOUS GIRL!

glad to hear the long weekend was filled with chillaxs and enough flannel salve to put you back in the mix with a power packed punch. xoox ♥
