Date Night

Though I was very sad to be missing the clothing swap that a group of us bloggers here in Vancouver had been planning for the past month (spear-headed by the lovely Cee of Coco and Vera), my evening was saved by Matt swinging down to Gastown to take me out for some pizza and cocktails post-work.

I’ve always loved this alleyway…you can’t see it in this picture, but the beautiful
restaurant Cork & Fin is just to the right, I’m dying to try it out.

Wearing:

Club Monaco linen top, H&M bracelet, street vendor necklace,
vintage cut-offs, H&M wedges, Marc by Marc Jacobs Handbag,
Urban Outfitters sunglasses

This was a Sunday post-work look, so casual would be the best descriptor for this outfit.  As much as I love dressing up, some days I’m just as happy to throw on my faithful cut-offs and be comfortable. This was definitely one of those days.

I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about Nicli Antica Pizzeria‘s traditional Neopolitan pizza and my experience definitely lived up to the hype.  I could go on for hours about the food, but let’s just say that two pizzas between the two of us wasn’t enough, and it wasn’t for lack of quantity.  Definitely a must if you’re living in or visiting Vancouver.

We decided to follow up our amazing pizza experience with a couple cocktails at The Diamond, one of Vancouver’s best-kept dining secrets.  Its known throughout the city as the best place for cocktails.  It’s an absolutely beautiful space to boot too.

I had the Picket Fence – amazing.  So refreshing and such a unique blend of spirits.  Matt had the Moscow Mule (pictured in the background) which was also delicious.  Perfect if you like a bit of spice.

Love the exit sign on the way out!

I can’t stress enough that in terms of culture and character, Gastown is definitely my go-to place in Vancouver.  If you want to experience the natural beauty of the city, then the North Shore, Kits, and Jericho areas are all great destinations; however, when it comes to exploring the cultural roots of the city, nothing beats Gastown.

Interesting fact: famed local media personality Nardwuar the Human Evaporator not only wrote a song called “Gassy Jack”, but his mother also co-wrote a book about the founder of Gastown.  Incidentally, Nardwuar was also the first person I ever interviewed when I started out with music journalism and is pretty much my favourite person ever.

you look stunning! My fave is the one of you in front of the stop sign. I haven't been in Gastown since the Olympics. I think I shall have to head on down there before the summer ends

everyone I know keeps raving about the pizza there and from those pictures, it definitely looks good.

I love how revitalized the whole gastown/railtown hoods are now, and I remember people were still skeptical when the woodwards building was being redone. Those who bought in at that time and businesses who invested at the right time are seeing it pay off nicely now.

We missed you on Sunday, but I'm glad to see you managed to have a little bit of fun without us, anyway 🙂 Isn't Nicli AMAZING? Ian and I went yet again on Saturday, we just can't resist- I'm not a bit pizza girl, but I love everything they make there. You look adorable in your casual style, too- you really have to teach me how to wear shorts with such style, although the fact that you have such amazing legs probably doesn't hurt!!

Sound like the perfect day 🙂 You look so tan and gorgeous! Gastown was one of my favorite areas of vancouver when i visited. Actually, it was the only place in the city that looked somewhat familiar with the similar old school vibe montreal has!
