In My Room

On this particularly gloomy and grey day here in Vancouver, I honestly didn’t feel like doing anything other than reading, writing, and studying in my audaciously daffodil yellow room.  I spend a good deal of time in here, always with my trusty pink laptop rigged up (I’m a colour person obviously).  Here’s a little tour of one of my most-frequented and favourite spots!

Pretty little things around my room – my favourite nail polishes, comfy and colourful pillows, a bouquet of flowers from Matt and my little plant, Lola by Marc Jacobs

My wine rack which at best will have maybe two bottles of wine in it.  My single bottle looked so lonely, I decided to throw in some vodka to keep it company.  Always the classy lady.

Don’t get me started on my closet…it is WAY too small, and as you can see my poor clothes are so cramped.  On a good note, here’s a new little bubblegum pink addition to my wardrobe – excited to wear it in Mexico!

You can tell a lot about a person from looking at their books.  The ones that I’m currently reading or have just wrapped up include some classic literary works, fashion books, and a piece of fiction centered around my favourite psychologist, Carl Jung.  Considering the fact that I studied Psych, live for fashion, and am passionate about literature, it all kind of seems fitting.  And of course, I always have a Vogue and my diary.

A painting by Cree artist Jerry Whitehead…it was quite a happy coincidence that this painting basically depicts my family: Mum and Dad, three girls, and one boy. I like to think I’m the one in the yellow.

Not to bother you with any annoying vacation countdowns, but I am currently ELEVEN days away from Puerto Vallarta and waaaaaaaay too excited!!!  I tend to take out my anxiety (even if it’s the good kind) by shopping, so I’ve now somehow accumulated a “vacation wardrobe” that could easily last me five trips.  Whatever, I guess at least I’ll be prepared! Hope you’re all having a lovely Thursday!

I wear Lola, too! It's my favorite perfume! The next time I'm in Vancouver I think I'll buy you a bottle of wine so the twins aren't so lonely ; )

Your poor wine rack, it looks just like mine 🙁 Actually, mine might be even sadder… Our kitchen has one built into the counter, but it's always empty. (Mainly because if we have wine, we drink it. Also classy.) I love that I can see that Club Monaco blouse that I also bought hanging in your closet. And The Little Dictionary of Fashion? Pretty much my favourite book of all time 🙂

Oooh Lola! I think it smells divine and thought about getting it for so long, but then by the time I was ready to make the plunge too many people I knew already owned it 🙁 It is a lovely scent regardless! And I lol'd at your wine rack/vodka!

Hope you're having a great week Alex! xo

Alex, i love the tour! i think these are some of my fave kinda posts b/c we get to see inside your world and i like what i see! i'd imagined you lived in a multi-hued home where delicate fantasy's appeared in every corner. even if the closet is crammed, it still is full of "to-die-fors"!!! new skirt is SO pretty, the pale pastels look great on you, case in point that swell soft yellow CM one that i adore. is it only 9 more sleeps left till you leave? omg, so exciting!

i love reading Jung and have Memories, Dreams, Reflections on repeat. your collection is so diverse, no wonder you can chat about anything and everything. you are a girl in the know! that painting is indeed something special, it's wonderful when they mean that much and have symbolism involved.

and girl, this weather sitch is something, right? did you see that downpour today??? the rain was pelting and splashed up inside all our windows, mass puddles to wipe up : ( i think Mylo assumes he is a bird and was treating it like a bath, that cat really is out of his mind! baha. hope you're keeping warm, dry and cozy love, happy weekend. ♥

pea ess: thanks for your comment and the understanding of my mild absence. work is incredz, i love it total!!!! 2 mornings this week we burned incense and did guided meditations together – how cool is that? my heart is galactic but it's also a strong learning curve so even though my hearts living the high life my mind feels the vice grips. taking is ease this weekend, hope you are too. xo
