Obakki Fall/Winter 2011

As Dela Cruz PR intern Jenn Perutka said, Obakki’s Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church was essentially Vancouver’s equivalent to the Royal Wedding.

The incredible venue – a place of fashion worship

Without fail, Obakki always puts on the most hotly-anticipated and well-executed events in the city, and Thursday’s fashion show was certainly no exception to this rule. From the beautiful space to the stunning collection (think wearable luxury with a hint of deconstruction and edginess), the entire event was West-Coast fashion at its best.

It was also amazing to meet some new faces from the blogosphere and some blogging-friends that I’ve known for awhile but never met in person!

Out for post-show ramen with
Mina of Faboulista and Jen of her waise choice
(and their two lovely boyfriends- I was totally the fifth-wheel)

Another thing that’s amazing about Obakki and its founder Treana Peake is the Obakki Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that supports humanitarian causes around the world.  To give an example of the scope of the label’s generosity, all the money from tickets for the fashion show and after-party went straight into the foundation’s causes.  Pretty amazing – to contribute, head over here

Wow, I can't believe how close you were to the action! I can almost count the individual tassles on that gorgeous flapper dress. So sorry I missed out on this obviously fabulous event, but I'm glad I've been able to live vicariously through everyone's posts about it 🙂

Also, how Parisian is your outfit? Seriously, this look is in close competition with your yellow pleated skirt for the number one spot on my list of favourites from you. So good to see you last night, and thanks for all of your help. If I were independently wealthy, I would most definitely be hiring you as my personal shopper!
